My first self-photographed casual shoot

Written by Photography

Phew! I had my very first casual shoot which was photographed completely by myself. I usually photograph pre-wedding casual shoots with my boss, but he had something else on his agenda today. For privacy reasons I won’t mention any names, but the couple was photographed last year and never had a casual shoot. Prior to leaving for their 1 year anniversary the wife decided to purchase Yankee tickets for her husband. She also thought it would be a good idea to do the casual shoot there.

First off, I was lucky to have a great couple to photograph. They were very nice and talkative so the experience went smoothly. The part which frightened me a bit was having to do the shoot alone at a location I’ve never been to. Therefore, I did ample research prior to meeting with them. I had an agenda in mind about where I would take them to and which parts of the exterior of the stadium were interesting (in the case I couldn’t be brought in). We began by gate 4 and then walked around the stadium photographing our way as we walked. There was a Jeter billboard (husband’s favorite player) an interesting park, and other general things.

After lapping around the stadium we managed to all get in (even me). I then immediately thought I should photograph them with the field. There was a shot I had in mind but was unable to take since the seats were crowded. The shoot lasted for about 1.5 hours and they were off to the game. Overcoming my fear went easier than expected. We said our farewells and I stayed to watch the game for about 3 innings.
